How much do sessions cost?

Adult Individual Therapy
(age 25+) 
$165.00 (including GST)

Youth Individual Therapy

How long is each session?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes long but can be adjusted for specific needs.

How do I access therapy through EAP or medical insurance?

To access therapy funded by Instep EAP, Raise, or Southern Cross Health Insurance, simply contact your provider to request counselling with Shirley Parker. Once approved, the referral will be sent directly to our office, and our team will get in touch to arrange your session appointment. For specific coverage details, please consult your provider.

Can I access funding for youth therapy?

Young people aged 15–24 in Auckland can access funded therapy sessions through the Youth Health Hub. You can contact them by calling (09) 836 2329 or the free number 0800 562 023, or by visiting their clinics in Henderson or Glenfield.

To apply, complete an application form and be sure to list Shirley Parker as your preferred therapist. Once your referral is received, we’ll be in touch to arrange an appointment.

Can I continue therapy after my EAP or insurance funding runs out?

Yes, you can continue your therapy with private sessions booked directly through our practice once your EAP or insurance funding has been used up.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. We provide both in-person and secure online video therapy sessions.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking an appointment is easy! You can reach out to us through our contact page, send us an email, or call and leave a message. We’ll get back to you promptly to schedule your session.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid cancellation fees. You can cancel by replying "No" to your appointment reminder, emailing us, or texting our administrator. Late cancellations will incur the full session fee or be deducted from your funded sessions.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. All sessions are confidential and comply with privacy laws.

How soon can I get an appointment?

We strive to offer timely appointments and typically have availability within the first week or two. Urgent cases are prioritized where possible. Contact us to discuss your needs, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you promptly.

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a chance to get to know each other and explore what brought you to therapy. We’ll discuss your goals, history, and any immediate concerns. This helps us create a personalized plan that fits your unique needs and sets the foundation for your healing journey
